a branch of maxillary artery?

A branch of the maxillary artery is the posterior superior alveolar artery. This artery arises from the maxillary artery in the infratemporal fossa. It typically gives off branches to supply the maxillary sinus and then continues downward to supply the posterior teeth and their surrounding tissues. This includes the molars and premolars of the maxilla, as well as the gingiva and periodontal ligaments in that region.
