As restriction endonucleases are used, both “sticky” or “blunt” end can be produced.
RFLP detect disease like sickel cell disease which involves point mutation & can also recognize trinucleotide repeat by analysis of chromosome structure.
If a mutation results in loss of a restriction site (deletion), fewer fragments are produced which can be detected by RFLP.
