How many of you know the latest bit of cheating in NEET? That too in Government seats?

Well this is how it’s going on. Modi Government scrapped the 50% reservation quota for service candidates in wake of NEET. Instead they established a incentive based one. In that one, a candidate who served in Remote and Hilly areas will get an additional 10-30% incentive mark from their original NEET mark. Which is okay!

Now what our awesome possum TN-DME (Tamil Nadu Directorate of Medical Education) did was something which can only be considered as bland corruption, absolute abuse of power and ruthless crushing of other PG Aspirants. They have released a merit list on 8/05/2017 , in which it has given such incentive for almost all the government service doctors, regardless of their work in areas which will come under remote/hilly regions as per the MCI guidelines. For example, as per the prospectus( which can be reached in the link (in comment section) released by Tamil Nadu government for PG seats in Tamil Nadu, only few (10) Hospitals come under Remote and Hilly areas in Tamil Nadu.

However, in the merit list published by Directorate of Medical Education Tamil Nadu, on 08/05/2017, almost all the government doctors working in Primary health centers in the rural areas have been given incentive marks upto 30% regardless of whether their PHC comes under the remote/hilly areas or not.

That is, they have given incentive marks (30%) to almost all the service candidates who had appeared and passed the NEET exams and had applied for the councelling and the number of government service candidates who have not been granted this incentive marks is very limited. This is in stark contrast to what is expected because the no. of institutions listed as remote/hilly by the TN government in their prospectus(and as per rules of MCI) will be only a few as I mentioned above while the total no. of PHCs in the state number around 2000+.

As anybody with any sense of logic can see, this merit list prepared by the DME is completely unlawful as per the judgment given by the Honourable high court in the W.A NO 484 OF 2017 and is designed to unfairly benefit the government service doctors at the expense of the non government service doctors like me, who form the majority of the doctors in Tamil Nadu. Because of this deliberate mis-intrepretation and implementation of incentives by the DME, now more than 90% of the top ranked candidates (even though their actual marks are low) in the merit list generated by the DME is filled by service candidates, who got there because of the completely illegal incentives given to them by DME rather than by the marks they actually obtained in NEET.

For example, the top 15 rankers in the merit list are all from service category and the first non service rank is 275 and it is by Dr. ARUNKUMAR whose NEET mark is 1200.5082 even though none of the top 274 ranked in the merit list generated by DME has score even 1200 in NEET exams. For those who don’t get the severity of this bland cheating. Dr. Arun Kumar got 1200 marks on his own. While all the other Top 274 candidates got only 925 marks but would have got 30% incentive because of that above mentioned cheating. With that they would have had a final mark of 1202.

That was for Top candidates ALONE. What about all other Non-Service candidates. Even if they scored above the service candidates, they wont get a seat because DME rigged the merit list by giving incentive to non deserving service candidates. What about others who, like Dr. Arun Kumar, sacrificed years, went to remote institutions for clearing PG NEET, who prepared by studying day and night? All that dreams and hard work will be crushed because those who are made to protect us (the Honourable TN DME) has failed us. Not only they failed, they backstabbed us.

So it is obvious for anyone seeing this result that the list generated by the DME is completely unlawful and is against the spirit and body of the judgement passed by the hounourable high court and is against the rules of the MCI. Morover, since the PG councelling is over in all other states, by using this arbitrary and unlawful method of assigning ranks and marks will result in many well deserved candidates from getting a proper rank in any other place in whole India. What’s worse, DME has deliberately conducted councelling on the very next day(09/05/2017) of announcing merit list(08/05/2017), just to avoid this obvious attempt at corruption from being squashed by a court trial or getting exposed

A similar attempt by Maharashtra government in Mahrashtra councelling was similiarly squashed by the High court as well as the supreme court for being unlawful and unjust after the councelling and allotment of colleges was done recently on april 30 2017 in a court case.

This post should send a chill down the spine of any other doctors or Medical Students. Unless we wake up and fight this and that too NOW, they will get away with this and moreover they will use this every year. And then all of us can forget studying PG. Even if we study with all effort we wont get our deserved rank or seat!!
