Ultrasonogram done in a 17yr girl with ovarian tumor shows a 666cm mass with predominant solid components. Ca 125 is negative, AFP is negative, ALP is raised. What is the most likely diagnosis?

B. Endodermal sinus tumor
C. Malignant teratoma
D. Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma
Correct answer : A. Dysgerminoma
Dysgerminoma secretes placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and β-HCG. Endodermal sinus tumour is rich in AFP (alpha fetoprotein). CA-125 is a glycoprotein and surface cell antigen which is secreted by malignant epithelial tumours.
